Sinuses are pockets of air behind your nose, cheekbones, eyes, and forehead. They are lined with cells that produce mucus, which traps foreign substances like allergens, irritants, and viruses. Normally, these invaders are carried out of the body through the nose or swallowed.
Sometimes viruses are able to bypass this protective barrier, causing the lining of the sinuses to become inflamed and sometimes infected. The inflammation causes swelling that blocks mucus from draining (congestion). It creates sinus pain and pressure or a sinus headache.
Sinuses can become inflamed and painful when infected by a virus or bacteria or during allergy season. It can feel like pressure in your face or a sinus headache. Other conditions such as allergies, nasal polyps, and tooth infections can also contribute to sinus pain and symptoms.
In 2011[1], researchers evaluated the effectiveness of red light therapy on 23 patients with chronic rhino-sinusitis (a condition that causes facial pain and pressure similar to headache). Both treatments were found to significantly decrease symptoms, and effects were sustained for a minimum of two months.

How will light therapy help provide relief from sinus infection pain?
Photizo Pain Relief light therapy alleviates pain and inflammation and will help to:
- Reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines and increase anti-inflammatory cytokines
- Reduce inflammation by modulating inflammatory cells
- Reduce oxidative stress
- Improve drainage of the lymphatic vessels
- Increase quality sleep.
