Physiotherapist uses light therapy to treat osteoarthritis pain
Physiotherapist Femke Moodie sees many patients, with varying physical issues, on a daily basis. Manual manipulation and soft tissue treatment of the affected area often provide relief, sometimes immediately, and sometimes over an extended period. However, Moodie also believes in using complementary aids to help patients find relief from their pain. One of these is the use of light therapy.
“One patient presented with pain caused by Osteoarthritis. She received physiotherapy on a regular basis to control her pain and to improve mobility in her joints. She also used pain medication. I decided to supplement her treatment by using the Photizo Pain Relief device. Each light therapy treatment session lasted between five and 10 minutes per treatment, three times a week, for about two weeks,” Moodie explains.
The patient felt pain relief after the first session, but optimal results were achieved after two weeks of treatment. The overall pain was reduced, and the mobility of her joints increased.
“With a condition such as osteoarthritis, long-term treatment is recommended and that is why the Photizo Pain Relief is ideal to use daily at home to manage and control chronic pain. Osteoarthritis is a joint condition where cartilage and other tissue within the joint break down or change. This is why long-term treatment is required because pain that occurs because of these changes needs to be managed,” Moodie points out.
“Osteoarthritis is a chronic pain condition that decreases mobility in joints because of the pain, and it causes joint changes that happen in the cartilage and other tissue in the joint. I would strongly recommend using Photizo Pain Relief for the supplementary treatment of osteoarthritis. It works wonders for patients with chronic pain disorders like arthritis because it helps relieve pain and improve mobility; giving back some quality of life to patients.
“I have used the Photizo Pain Relief on various conditions that involve pain. I have treated muscle injuries and tendon/ligament injuries with great success. I also had good results with fractures and even some nerve conditions. Photizo Pain is a wonderful treatment modality. I have used it in my practice for 18 years with great success. What I love about Photizo Pain Relief is that it is easy to use and affordable. I often recommend that patients with chronic pain conditions invest in a Photizo Pain Relief unit to control and manage their pain at home because this will certainly improve their quality of life,” says Moodie.
